EARLY INTERVENTIONS IN GROWING SMALL MANDIBLE DIAGNOSIS I INTERVENTIONS I OUTCOMES

Class II skeletal dysplasia during early years of deciduous and mixed dentition is often missed or not ignored. Consequently, these children remain at high risk for sleep breathing disorders (SBD), may end up with extraction treatment later in life or even end up as orthognathic surgery patients in adulthood. They are likely to lose the benefits of non- extraction treatment, expected fuller orthognathic profile at a less burden of treatment. This presentation aims to empower paediatric dentists, the custodian of children’s dental health, to recognize, investigate, and institute appropriate interceptive therapeutic procedures and make a suitable consult with specialists and referrals in children with small mandible. The learning will be imparted through real-life cases supported with evidence- based literature.
