ABSTRACT

Direct composite resin restorations are one of the best options for the anterior teeth as well as the posterior teeth in accordance with the developing materials and application techniques in adhesive dentistry concept. These single-visit restorations can perfectly mimic the natural dental tissues minimally invasively. A clinician can perform the restorations through ‘prepless’ or ‘nonprep’ concepts and can simulate the esthetic parameters of natural dental tissues such as the optical properties as well as the macro and micro surface morphologies. Crown fracture restorations, diastema closure restorations, class III restorations, cervical restorations, and direct veneer restorations are the examples of the anterior direct composite restorations. Esthetic and functional outcomes can be achieved with correct indication, pre-restorative procedures, efficient isolation, correct instruments, proper technique, and frequent recalls. Recently, the restorations with a safer and simpler layering technique which eliminate the possible color mismatch issues are widely preferred by the clinicians. These minimally invasive, single-visit and single-shade restorations are called the monochromatic restorations, and the regarding clinical application protocols will be discussed in this lecture through several clinical cases.
