Scientific writing in pediatric dental journals connects clinical innovation with evidence-based practice, enabling researchers to disseminate their research findings towards child oral health challenges like early childhood caries, trauma management, behavioral and orthodontic issues. This topic equips dental postgraduates/ young researchers with essential skills to navigate the publication process amid rising demands for high-quality, impactful research. Key focus areas include mastering the IMRaD structure [Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion (Conclusions)], crafting concise abstracts under 250 words, and integrating pediatric-specific elements such as ethical considerations for vulnerable populations (e.g., assent from children) and age-stratified data analysis. Participants learn to adhere to guidelines from the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and EQUATOR Network for reporting (e.g., CONSORT for clinical trials, STROBE for observational studies) different studies. Practical strategies cover journal selection using metrics from Scopus or Web of Science, prioritizing different pediatric dental journals, and optimizing manuscripts for open-access trends. After listening to this talk, participants can produce publication-ready drafts, enhancing their scientific writing skills, career progression, and contributions to global pediatric dentistry. Emphasis on country/regional/ global specific contexts can open doors for publishing in different high impact national and international speciality journals.
