Advances in our knowledge of pulp biology and its healing capacity, in conjunction with the use of new biocompatible materials that promote preservation of pulp vitality, provide the current evidence for the new IAPD consensus recommendations to manage pulpal diseases generated by caries or trauma. This presentation will describe the protocols for diagnosing pulp diseases and using minimally invasive, biologically driven tiered approaches that prioritize pulp preservation in both primary and permanent teeth. The role of these consensus statements in a contemporary pediatric dentistry practice will be discussed.
